From the recording The Two Tones
Lyrics
I AIN’T BUYING IT
(Lyrics and music by Winston Apple)
When I’m driving around town
And I’m pushing all the buttons on my radio
Looking for a little roots rock, reggae music
To soothe my soul
I steer clear of talk radio
And all their wacked out callers, guests, and hosts
Don’t wanna hear some psycho
Foaming at the mouth and pitching a fit
About the gays and the commies
And the politicians who dare to disagree with him
I ain’t buying it
They’re not saying anything that I need to hear
I ain’t buying it
I don’t share their anger, hate or fear
I ain’t buying it
No, I ain’t buying it
Well, I don’t watch much TV
So many channels, so little to see
And when I do find something that I want to watch
They keep breaking in trying to sell me
All the things they claim I need
If I want to find true love and happiness
Well, their pitch ain’t working on me
I ain’t buying it
I’ve got all the love I need
I ain’t buying it
I’m as happy as a man can be
I ain’t buying it
No, I ain’t buying it
When election time is drawing near
And the candidates are all buying time
To attack one another
And accuse one another of various assorted crimes
And of deviant behavior and deceit and corruption
And there never seems to be any serious discussion
Of the issues that matter to me
I ain’t buying it
If all they’re gonna do is sling some mud
I ain’t buying it
I ain’t voting for them, no, I’ve had enough
I ain’t buying it
No, I ain’t buying it
I ain’t buying it
No, no, I ain’t buying it
