Lyrics

We the People
(Lyrics and music by Winston Apple)

We can have a revolution, the likes of which the world has never seen
With joy in our hearts, we’re gonna get this party started
We’re taking to the streets
We’re dancing in the streets, and we’re singing
We the people want a government of us, by us, and for us
We the people want genuine democracy and we are willing to work for it

Too many workers are working for wages
That won’t keep their families sheltered and fed
They never see most of the fruits of their labor
They work as hard as they can
Just to get their daily bread
We the workers of the world, must stand united, or divided we fall
Once we all truly care, we will get our fair share, so everybody heed the call
It’s all for one and one for all, just like the Mousketeers

It’s gonna take a revolution, if we want a government that’s here for you and me
But we need not be angry or hateful or vengeful
This revolution can be joyous if we want it to be

If we the people want good government
We’re gonna have to work for it
I sang the verses for you
All I will ask of you is to sing along on the chorus
And the chorus is...
We the people want a government of us, by us, and for us
We the people want genuine democracy and we are willing to work for it
