Lyrics

A JUDAS KISS
(Lyrics and music by Winston Apple)

Changing the course of history is never easy, but it is the task at hand
We need to rouse the drowsy masses, inspire them, and help them understand
That the fate of the human race is hanging in the balance right here, right now
Though we may never meet the ones we save
That doesn’t mean we can afford to let them down

There are a whole lot of reasons to give up and yield to despair
And if you choose that course, I’ll understand, but as for me, I choose to care

If we rise up as one, with a clear idea of the changes that we seek
We will succeed to the degree that we can be the change we wish to see
There is a clear consensus among those of us who study history
The arc of history bends very slow, but changes always come eventually
Tensions build and build until they are released inevitably
And our time is coming
I feel it coming
This glorious change is meant to be

And I will not stop trying to make a difference in this world we’re living in
Well I may get knocked down, but I’ll get right back up, time and time again

And I will not go gentle into that good night, no not yet
When I leave this earth, I want to leave it clean, without regret
This little Light of mine is gonna shine, it’s shining brighter by the day
As I learn to yield to the Holy Ghost and let that gentle spirit guide my way
Then when my time has come, I will go blissfully into the Light
And in my new dominion I will watch over you every day and every night

I will do what I can to protect you from the darkness in men’s souls
In the deep heart of darkness the human instincts sometimes turn cold
With hearts of stone and minds devoid of ideas they prey
On the meek and the week and those among who seem to have lost their way
Lost and lonely, consumed by lust and greed, they have forgotten what Love is
And should our Savior return, they’ll promptly greet Him with a Judas kiss
