Hard times have come around again
At times it seems like they will never end
But if we come together, we will find our way
Back to the Promised Land and onward to better days

A lot of people who were living the American Dream
Have seen their dreams shattered by reality
And it may seem like the dream is over
But that’s not how it has to be

These are hard times for millions among us
Who have lost their jobs
Who have lost their homes
These are good times for the richest among us
And Uncle Sam just keeps on singing, “Let the Good Times Roll”

There was a time when we could count on Uncle Sam
To lend a helping hand to those in need
Now he’s just helping the rich get richer and that’s now how it ought to be

Hard times have come around again
